HRF Weekly Update - September 17, 2017

This Sunday, September 17, 2017, we will continue our series through the book of James. Pastor Tony will be preaching from James 1:13-18.

We encourage you to prepare for corporate worship by reading and praying through the text prior to the message on Sunday. Here is a list of the songs we will be singing this Sunday as well.

Here are a few discipleship resources our elders recommend checking out this week.

  1. 5 Marks Of A Contented Heart - We know that this contentment is not simply idealistic but rather characteristic of the Christian life. As believers, we continue to learn contentment by learning to trust and treasure God in every situation.
  2. Trusting God When The Pain Seems Pointless - God has written each of us into a story far greater than ourselves. He calls us to trust him to weave that story together, so that, in the end that will never end, we will worship him, in awe of the sheer genius of his wisdom.
  3. How To Encourage One Another With Words - Encouragement is like oxygen in the life of a church. It keeps hearts beating, minds clear, and hands inspired to serve. Because encouragement is so important to the church, God doesn’t merely recommend it; he explicitly commands it.

Please read them and use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another. You can also view an archive of recommended discipleship resources here.

On September 24, 2017, we will be celebrating four years of Gods faithfulness to Hampton Roads Fellowship! We will be welcoming new members, baptisms, and hosting a BBQ outside after service in the church courtyard. HRF will provide the food and fun activities for the kids. We just ask that our members provide a side dish to contribute to the BBQ.

To do so, please sign up here and let us know what you will be bringing to share as we celebrate this day together!
