HRF Weekly Update - September 10, 2017

This Sunday, September 10, 2017, we will begin a new sermon series through the book of James. Pastor Tony will be preaching from James 1:1-17.

We encourage you to prepare for corporate worship by reading and praying through the text prior to the message on Sunday. Here is a list of the songs we will be singing this Sunday as well.

Here are a few discipleship resources our elders recommend checking out this week.

  1. Don't Worship At The Altar Of Vulnerability - Jesus shows us that vulnerability is so much more than individual emotional unburdening. Vulnerability exists for the good of the community.
  2. 6 Reasons To Sit In A Different Seat This Sunday - Most of us have a habit of sitting in the same place in church on Sunday, and I realize that nobody else is calling for changing this pattern. Nevertheless, here are six reasons that you and I should sit in a different place at church this weekend.
  3. When You Doubt God's Love - We are often tempted to tabulate God’s love for us based on the quality of our lives, our desires being met, the quality and quantity of material blessings, and our tide-like emotions. But this is not how we know God’s love for us.

Please read them and use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another. You can also view an archive of recommended discipleship resources here.

Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast as a Category 4 storm on Friday, August 25. Damage from the storm and subsequent flooding is widespread. It will take months, and in some areas years, to restore Houston to its former state.

Here are some ways that you can get involved in the relief efforts.
